The reasons include there are fewer home buyers during the holiday season so competition is low, sellers who have their homes listed for sale now are usually highly motivated to sell and will listen to all reasonable offers and finally, mortgage rates are falling.

The lowest rate 30 year loans are down to 6 percent now and could be in the high five’s in the next few days.
